Updates to Our Library

Part of our capacity building in preparation for the opening of the Sexual Assault Centre has involved seeking new additions to our library. These additions will be housed in a sub-section of our library specifically dedicated to the Sexual Assault Centre initiative. Thanks to amazing volunteers, our library has recently been re-organized and archived in a new, easily-searchable database.

Here’s a small sampling of the titles in our Sexual Assault Centre initiative’s growing resource library:

Colour Of Violence: The Incite! Anthology, by the Incite! Women Of Colour Against Violence collective

The Revolution Starts At Home: Confronting Intimate Violence Within Activist Communities, edited by Ching-In Chen, Jai Dulani, and Leah Lakshmi Piepzna-Samarasinha

No More! Women Speak Out Against Violence, edited by Eileen Morrow and Susan Wakeling

The Courage To Heal: A Guide For Women Survivors of Child Sexual Abuse (3rd edition), by Ellen Bass and Laura Davis

Allies in Healing: When The Person You Love Was Sexually Abused As A Child, by Laura Davis

Sisters of the Yam: Black Women And Self-Recovery by bell hooks

Harrassed: 100 Women Define Inappropriate Behavior In The Workplace by Nancy Dodd McCann and Thomas A. McGinn

Shout Out: Women Of Colour Respond To Violence, edited by Maria Ochoa and Barbara K. Ige

… these, in addition to many other books, comics, zines,  articles,  and CDs, cover a range of topics relating to the Sexual Assault Centre initiative’s mandate: addressing sexualized violence as it affects Concordians and the extended Concordia community. It’s exciting to watch the library grow as we seek new additions to it.

If you have any ideas for resources on sexualized violence that you think we should carry in our resource library, e-mail us and let us know!
